I saw a couple of scenario's where microagression played a huge part. The one that stood out the most was when I attended the Black Friday sale at Walmart. I was in the line for a Nabi 2 tablet for my little girl and there was a white lady in fornt of me that was really rude. At ten o'clock which was the time the tablet went on sale the crowd got a little rowdy. There was pushing, yelling, and cursing. When we finally got our tablets, and purchased them I heard her tell her husband that those black people would mess up a wet dream. I was very outraged, insulted, and embarrassed. I did not know if I should respond or just get my purchase and go. This was clearly an example of micro-racism.
This affected me in so many ways. It showed me that here in Mississippi things have not changed. I don't want to be one of those people that keep racial hate alive, so I forgive those people and move on with my life because if I spend my time worrying about things that I cannot change, then I allow those things to take power over me and my life and that is not an option.

Perspectives on Diversity and Culture
Danielle : Culture is a group of individuals with various differences whether it be race, religion, gender, or etc. Diversity is a variation of culture.
Phil : Culture is social moreys, traditions, and tabu's of groups. Diversity is the acceptance of differences within your society or culture.
Generally everybody feels the same about what culture and diversity mean. Basically it's the many different things about us individually that makes us who we are. What I have learned is that Culture is the characteristics of a particular group of people, defined by everything from language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts. There are a few things that have been ommitted about culture. They left out that culture is defined as the shared patterns of behaviors and interactions, cognitive constructs, and affective understanding that are learned through a process of socialization. When I look at thier definitions it makes me think about the way I define culture. My definition of culture is inherited ideas, beliefs, values, and knowledge, which constitute the shared bases of social action.

My Family Culture
The three items that I would take to keep me in touch with my culture are very important to me.The first thing I would pack is the Bible. I dnt know where I will be sent and if they will have the same beliefs as myself and my family. I would never want them to forget about thier faith. The second thing I would take is my photo album. I don't ever want to forget my family and friends and the good times we shared. The third thing I would take is the baddest pair of high heels in my closet. I love shoe and even if I don't get to wear them again, just looking at them is enough.
If when I get to where I am going and I have to give up two of my items it would devestate me. I had to think long and hard about which items I just couldn't leave behind and to be told that I still have to eliminate two of my items would make me really angry. I would be furious, probably irate.
I have learned that my reliegon is the most important thing in my life. If nothing else I would take my bible because it is the most important when it comes to my culture. The values I share with my family are important to me.

Final Blog : When I Think of Research
I would like to start off by saying that I have really enjoyed interacting with each and one of you. I have learned so much from you all. I have learned so much about research. I had a general idea about research, but I have great insight on things that I didn't even know was relevant. My idea about research and how to conduct it has changed tremendously. I now know how to properly conduct a research project . I know the rules and take pride in doing it the right way. Before I kind of half way did things not even taking consideration of confidentiality and quality of the project. I have learned that a properly prepared and planned project will be very effective. Once you have a plan, all the other parts of the project will just fall together. This course has taught me to look beyond the exterrior of things. I was already aware that things aren't always what they appear, but it gets deeper. This class has been amazing. I especially enjoyed learning new words and what they mean as it relates to early childhood education.

Research that Benefits Children and Families
Children are so precious, and it's important that thier learning experience be as stress free as possible. At the Middle School where I taught there was a little boy named Drew that was not really computer literate. Being the way technology has taken over, I felt it to be a little strange. But unfortunately everyone does not have access to technology. Drew was very discouraged and ashamed when our school adopted the ipad technology to determine if this was a fun and exciting way to learn. They were trying to see if they ould raise the children test scores by learning the information differently. Drew didn't give up. He went to the local library as much as possible to pratice navigating the computer. Soon he was just as efficient as the other students. This led me to the article I chose entitled "Effectiveness of Computer-Based Education in Schools".
The article gives the importance of Computer-Based Education. How it opens the door to a whole other world of educational bliss. In my opinion the way technologhy is evolving all children should have the oportunity to be briefed on a computer-based education. Most jobs now require some computer litearcy and this will be very beneficial.

My Personal Research Journey
The topic I chose for simulations is the effects of early childhood education in poverty. I chose this topic because it really puzzles my mind. There are so many children living in poverty that deserve a chance at a quality education, and I want to make sure that I can provide that for as many children as can. All children deserve quality education, there are so many diferent things available for children in poverty including vouchers. I can't understand for the life of me why parents don't take advantage. Some even misuse it. I want to make sure that the parents of the children that will one day attend my childcare facility get the best education possible. Children learn the most during the age from birth to 5 years. Given the chance, I feel that all children can excel. This topic is very immportant to me because I too was raised in poverty and got a quality education and overcame all statistical situations.

Final Blog Assignment
The first consequence that got me upset was how difficult it is in some countries for children to get the proper education they need. I listened to a podcast that nearly broke my heart. It discussed how famine and disease was one of the main factors holding children back from an effective education. It saddens me how easy it is in the U.S. to get an education when there are children and parents in other countries are fighting for it. The second consequence that I came across was how much better some of the educational programs and systems are in some countries. We as educators need to stand up and make something happen in our educational systems. I read an article about some things our president was trying to do that I was unaware of, and I must say it made me proud. The third consequence I found was how difficult it was to get in touch with a professional in other parts of the country. I was very disappointed at the feedback I recieved, which was none. There were a lot of thingsI wanted better insight on in other countries, but unfortunately I was not able to.
My goal is to take the many things I've learned from the international podcasts and many articles I read. I plan to have my own early childcare facility one day where I could apply this knowledge and make sure that my facility is effective and beneicial to each child that attends.
