Famous Quotes

"We know that teachers are the key to good child care - and as long as teachers are undervalued, American children, too, will keep getting less than they deserve"

~ Marcy Whitebook

“These truths about the early care and education workforce are not breaking news. We have known for two decades, since the release of the National Child Care Staffing Study in 1989, that limited education, lack of specialized early childhood training and poor compensation are inextricably linked to the poor to mediocre quality common to the majority of early care and education services across the nation. We have known, almost for that long, that the education level and pay of the workforce play a critical role in whether services can improve.”

~ Marcy Whitebook

  1. I love Marcy Whitebook's first quote you wrote. I think that quote is so true! America has to be better and treat teachers like they need to be treated!

  2. I love Whitebrook's quote they are so on point! If our country would take the time to stop and evaluate how critical we are to the person they created they might have a different view on are job and the significance we play in their life. I have a friend who is a director and she told me exactly what Whitebrook said, she cannot find caregivers who care they see child care as a job and not the child. Until the world see us for more than babysitting we have to continue to prove our significance. I wonder if parents really knew that the child leave with us for 8 to 10 hours a day is the person we are molding.

  3. Your quote by Lyndon Johnson really made me think. How many parents seem bothered by school functions or helping their child. They think that it is just the teachers problem to educate a child, when really it is everyones. If our children are not educated properly our country will fail within the world. We will no longer be a super power if our children are not properly educated. We need to see education as an oppurtunity and not a problem.

  4. Hi Katrina I read your quotes and I realized that we put the same exact quote for Lyndon B. Johnson. I am glad to see that someone takes education to the heart because it is what will help us out in the long run in life. Education is truly important and the best opportunity for those who want it.
