Professional Hopes and Goals

I hope to help end the negativity associated with diversity in the course of career. I hope to help children who are seen as different and help them be accepted by everyone. I plan to make moves in the communities that have never been attempted before. Children are very special to me and I have a passion that burns deep as it relates to children and a fair education.

I would make a lot of changes in education dealing with diversity, equity, and social justice. I would ake sure that all educators dealing with students who are diverse are very open and welcoming. Making the children feel as comfortable as possible so that they can do the best that they can. Being open and understanding can really make a difference.

I would like to THANK each and everyone on my colleagues for a very successful eight week term. I have enjoyed reading your many posts and commenting on them too. This class has been very interesting. Learning about diversity has been the best subject area I have studied so far.

Welcoming Families Around The World

The name of the country that the new family is from is Fiji.

There are so many ways to prepare myself with the proper knowledge about this family. The things that I am going to do are:

1. I will google Fiji to actually read about the country and thier ways of doing things.

2. I will make sure I learn everything I need to know about thier culture so that I don't do or say anything that is disrespectful or insulting.

3. I will get to know the family, each person individually so that I can relate to them on a different level.

4. I will be very open to the differences we have in our cultures opposed to thiers and the way they do things.

5. I will also be very sensitive to thier beliefs and way of life.

I am hopeful that this will not only benefit my family, but the family from Fiji as well. I want my family to be aware and open to the very diversified world we live in and able to adapt to any situation without being bias.

The Personal Side of Bias, Predjudice, and Oppression

I remember going to a store called Plato's Closet with one of my close friends. This is a store were people bring gently worn really nice clothes and sell them to the store, who in turn sells it to it's customers. Well my friend brought in some really nice clothes, and at the same time this caucasion lady brought in some stuff also. They have a list of brands that they take, and my friend had some of them all. My friend dropped off her bag and started to browse. Not even a minute later she was paged to the front of the store and the young lady told her that they couldn't use any of her stuff. She even had items that still had tags on them. There was another young lady that worked there that was sitting on the floor going through the caucasion lady's bag very thoroughly. My friend didn't get upset, she got her bag and left.

The way my friend was treated at Plato's Closet was very prejudice. Because she was African American the store workers assummed that her clothes weren't good enough or even worth going through the bags for.

This incident brought about a lot of different feelings for me. It took me back to the days where African Americans were considered less than other races.

I don't know if things will ever change. Everyday I think things are getting better and better, and there is always a situation as such that makes me feel differently.

Practicing Awareness of Microaggressions

I saw a couple of scenario's where microagression played a huge part. The one that stood out the most was when I attended the Black Friday sale at Walmart. I was in the line for a Nabi 2 tablet for my little girl and there was a white lady in fornt of me that was really rude. At ten o'clock which was the time the tablet went on sale the crowd got a little rowdy. There was pushing, yelling, and cursing. When we finally got our tablets, and purchased them I heard her tell her husband that those black people would mess up a wet dream. I was very outraged, insulted, and embarrassed. I did not know if I should respond or just get my purchase and go. This was clearly an example of micro-racism.

This affected me in so many ways. It showed me that here in Mississippi things have not changed. I don't want to be one of those people that keep racial hate alive, so I forgive those people and move on with my life because if I spend my time worrying about things that I cannot change, then I allow those things to take power over me and my life and that is not an option.

Perspectives on Diversity and Culture

Danielle : Culture is a group of individuals with various differences whether it be race, religion, gender, or etc. Diversity is a variation of culture.

Phil :  Culture is social moreys, traditions, and tabu's of groups. Diversity is the acceptance of differences within your society or culture.

Generally everybody feels the same about what culture and diversity mean. Basically it's the many different things about us individually that makes us who we are. What I have learned is that Culture is the characteristics of a particular group of people, defined by everything from language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts. There are a few things that have been ommitted about culture. They left out that culture is defined as the shared patterns of behaviors and interactions, cognitive constructs, and affective understanding that are learned through a process of socialization. When I look at thier definitions it makes me think about the way I define culture. My definition of culture is  inherited ideas, beliefs, values, and knowledge, which constitute the shared bases of social action.

My Family Culture

The three items that I would take to keep me in touch with my culture are very important to me.The first thing I would pack is the Bible. I dnt know where I will be sent and if they will have the same beliefs as myself and my family. I would never want them to forget about thier faith. The second thing I would take is my photo album. I don't ever want to forget my family and friends and the good times we shared. The third thing I would take is the baddest pair of high heels in my closet. I love shoe and even if I don't get to wear them again, just looking at them is enough.

If when I get to where I am going and I have to give up two of my items it would devestate me. I had to think long and hard about which items I just couldn't leave behind and to be told that I still have to eliminate two of my items would make me really angry. I would be furious, probably irate.

I have learned that my reliegon is the most important thing in my life. If nothing else I would take my bible because it is the most important when it comes to my culture. The values I share with my family are important to me.

Final Blog : When I Think of Research

I would like to start off by saying that I have really enjoyed interacting with each and one of you. I have learned so much from you all. I have learned so much about research. I had a general idea about research, but I have great insight on things that I didn't even know was relevant. My idea about research and how to conduct it has changed tremendously. I now know how to properly conduct a research project . I know the rules and take pride in doing it the right way. Before I kind of half way did things not even taking consideration of confidentiality and quality of the project. I have learned that a properly prepared and planned project will be very effective. Once you have a plan, all the other parts of the project will just fall together. This course has taught me to look beyond the exterrior of things. I was already aware that things aren't always what they appear, but it gets deeper. This class has been amazing. I especially enjoyed learning new words and what they mean as it relates to early childhood education.

Research that Benefits Children and Families

Children are so precious, and it's important that thier learning experience be as stress free as possible. At the Middle School  where I taught there was a little boy named Drew that was not really computer literate. Being the way technology has taken over, I felt it to be a little strange. But unfortunately everyone does not have access to technology. Drew was very discouraged and ashamed when our school adopted the ipad technology to determine if this was a fun and exciting way to learn. They were trying to see if they ould raise the children test scores by learning the information differently. Drew didn't give up. He went to the local library as much as possible to pratice navigating the computer. Soon he was just as efficient as the other students. This led me to the article I chose entitled "Effectiveness of Computer-Based Education in Schools".

The article gives the importance of Computer-Based Education. How it opens the door to a whole other world of educational bliss. In my opinion the way technologhy is evolving all children should have the oportunity to be briefed on a computer-based education. Most jobs now require some computer litearcy and this will be very beneficial.

My Personal Research Journey

The topic I chose for simulations is the effects of early childhood education in poverty. I chose this topic because it really puzzles my mind. There are so many children living in poverty that deserve a chance at a quality education, and I want to make sure that I can provide that for as many children as  can. All children deserve quality education, there are so many diferent things available for children in poverty including vouchers. I can't understand for the life of me why parents don't take advantage. Some even misuse it. I want to make sure that the parents of the children that will one day attend my childcare facility get the best education possible. Children learn the most during the age from birth to 5 years. Given the chance, I feel that all children can excel. This topic is very immportant to me because I too was raised in poverty and got a quality education and overcame all statistical situations.

Final Blog Assignment

The first consequence that got me upset was how difficult it is in some countries for children to get the proper education they need. I listened to a podcast that nearly broke my heart. It discussed how famine and disease was one of the main factors holding children back from an effective education. It saddens me how easy it is in the U.S. to get an education when there are children and parents in other countries are fighting for it. The second consequence that I came across was how much better some of the educational programs and systems are in some countries. We as educators need to stand up and make something happen in our educational systems. I read an article about some things our president was trying to do that I was unaware of, and I must say it made me proud. The third consequence I found was how difficult it was to get in touch with a professional in other parts of the country. I was very disappointed at the feedback I recieved, which was none. There were a lot of thingsI wanted better insight on in other countries, but unfortunately I was not able to.

My goal is to take the many things I've learned from the international podcasts and many articles I read. I plan to have my own early childcare facility one day where I could apply this knowledge and make sure that my facility is effective and beneicial to each child that attends.

Getting to Know Your International Contacts—Part 3

QUALITY

After visiting the UNESCO's Early Childhood Care and Education webpage the article I chose was titled "Quality" by Niamh Burke. As you can tell what stands out the most for me is the issue on quality education. I plan to one day have an Early Childcare Facility of my own, and I want to provide quality education for the transition from my facility to Kindergarten. Most of the articles and podcast that catch my interest are about quality Early Childhood Education. I have learned that Early childhood care and education programmes should emphasise the child’s holistic development and extend beyond assisting the child’s transition to formal schooling (Niamh Burke, n.d.). There are a lot of areas that are limited to a certain type of education. I want to take part in bridging that gap, so that every child nomatter thier background can have a quality effective education. I want the children that leave my facility well prepared and confident. Active involvement from parents and communities and relevant play and learning materials ensure that early childhood services remain relevant to the needs of the children and all other stakeholders and increases sustainability ( Niamh Burke, n.d.).  I am aware that every child learns differently, but educators have to bring excitement and creativity to the classrooms.

           Early Childhood Education

The website I chose is absolutely wonderful. I read an article titled Early Care and Education. In my opinion early childhood education is one of the most important things in a child's life. It helps to shape and mold them into the academic achievers they grow to be. All babies and todlers need positive early learning experiences to foster thier interllectual, social, and emotional development and lay the foundation for later school success. Children learn the most from ages birth to 5, and it's important for them to get as much as they can so that they can properly function in school. I am so aware that this process can only be affective through a good parent, teacher relationship. There are so many children whose parents look at early childhood education as some sort of babysitting service. In my opinion it is vital to have a smooth transition so that the children can be confident and successful through thier educational process.

Getting to Know Your International Contacts - Part 2

Meridas Eka Yora is the founder and director of the institution Fajar Hiayah for Islamic Education and Director of the Yayasan Fajar Hidayah Foundation. Meridas developed three boarding schools for children orphaned as a result of that devastation in Aceh. Mr.
Yora talked about the importance of Earlychilldhood Care and Education for children of all ages. He starts off by talking about what made him want to open his three boarding schools and the effect they have on the children there. Mostly all of the children in attendence in his boarding school are orphans. From birth he believes children should have the proper education to lead productive successful lives. The effectiveness starts with the teachers. In these students eyes teachers are parental figures as well as educators. They are all that these students have for motivation. I also believe in educational eqaulity for all children nomatter thier circumstances.

I accquired a great deal from Mr. Yora. He made me feel and understand his passion for equality and excellence for all chilren. While listening to this podcast I was inspired to make a difference also. Its one thing to talk about things that can be done, but there is another to actually get up and make things happen. I am aware that it took hard work and dedication, but I too want to make a difference in the lives of young children.

Everything on the website for the organization I chose is relevant to my current professional development. There are many different topics and they are all relevant to my development. I want to learn as much as I can about Early Childhood Education and I know to do that I have to open myself to all the information I can. Specificly I lke the topics on labeling and biasness. I realize that there are so many ways to label a child and I don't agree with them. Every child deserves a fair chance and I don't want to be one of those educators.

How play ties into the educational process. This issue made me look into play and it's effects a little closer. Working in the classroom with children before mad eme a believer in how big a role play is. Making learning fu is everything to small children. Learning through song and dance is very effective.

I can see much clearer the role politicians play in education. From my reading I feel that they are very serious and sincere. I work for the Mississippi Dept of Education, and every since I have been there the main goal is to make educationa more effective our children here. I was very impressed also that President Obama shared sucha deep passion also. In my readings I have learned a lot.

There is so much I have gained so far I don't know where to start.  The relationships between parents and educators is really intriguing to me. I understand really how important it is now. I know that this relationship serves as a support system for the child. This gives confidence and good self esteem for the child.

Getting to Know Your International Contacts

I have not heard back from the two professional contacts I reached out to. I did however listen to a podcast with a participant named Barnabas Otaala. Mr. Otaala is a Dean of Education at Uganda Martyr’s University and a champion of the World Forum since day one. Barnabas and Jacqueline Hayden were awarded a World Forum networking grant to study the impact of HIV/AIDS on young children in Namibia. Their report, HIV/AIDS and the Young Child, which was distributed to all attendees at World Forum 2005 in Montreal, was the impetus for the establishment of the World Forum Voices of Hope working group.

Mr. Otaala talked about HIV/AIDS and its effects on the children, parents, and educators in Namibia. From my understanding most of the children that carry this disease have not even been properly diagnosed. Once properly diagnosed it sends the people in Namibia in a frenzy. It's hard to accept something you don't understand. One particular little girl who was diagnosed, people wanted to know what they could do to help, Mr.Otaala suggested that parents and educators as well as others who didnt understand the disease speak with the doctor so that they can get get a better understanding and not be so scared of it. He also talked about the role educators play in these children's lives. He thought that the whole situation would be overwhelming for a normal teacher. In my opinion those children need an educator who accepts and understands the disease and can still give these children the proper education they need without being afraid of them.

ZERO TO THREE

Zero to Three's is a national non-profit organization. Thier mission is to promote the health and development of infants and toddlers. As infants being held, cared for and talked to teaches us who we are and how we are valued. The things we experience early on in life are the things that make us strong.

One current issue that that caught my attention was School Readiness Interactive Birth to 3. This article was extremely informative. It taked about parents as the first educators in a child's life. Through a parents love, and support is how the develop properly. I am a firm believer that the educational process starts at home. Teachers do everything they can, but if the parent is not going that extra mile for thier child, how relevant is what the teacher is doing? Now as a teacher I believe in effective learning. I know that things have to be well thought out and organized. I know that the teacher has to make the educational process fun but challenging at the same time. School readiness is very important and being involved in a child's life carries the same weight.

Establishing Professional Contacts

I must say that this assignment has been very challenging, but I managed to figure out what exactly I was suppose to be doing. I contacted three professional contacts by email out side the United States. I am not aware if they took the email seriously are not because I have not been contacted as of yet. I am very confident that I will be contacted soon. I think collaborating in conversation with them will be very educational for me. I expect to learn a lot from them and whats going on in thier cultures.

The website I chose was Zero to Three: National Center for Infants, Toddlers, and Families. Zero to Three is a national nonprofit organization that informs, trains, and supports professionals, policymakers and parents in thier efforts to improve the lives of infants and toddlers. The article for this week is about the child's behavior from ages 15 to 18 months. I learned a lot about a childs development around those ages. I am in my last trimester and I am extremely exstatic about what this article teaches.

"My Supports"

To me support means to have my back 100%. To encourage me to do whatever I need to do to complete whatever the task is at hand. The support I get from my family is very strong. Just like everybody else I make bad decisions, but they support me so much they look over that and encourage me to go on. I have great support at my job. Just recently we started a new evaluation to open the communication between us and our supervisors and its great. We are to write out short term and long term goals and they are to support us and make sure we follow through with them. I love it! My husband and children are a wonderful support. Now that I am in my third trimester my son really goes that extra mile. He coks, cleans, and just really supports me, and Im so proud. My husband does as much as he can, but my son is just awesome. My daughter can't do much, but she takes good care of me also. It would be very challenging if I didnt have these different support systems. Each one represents a different part in my life, but are still very vital. If I didn'thave them in my life, I would still function, I just don't know how long it would take to fulfil the different tasks. I appreciate each support system and I am glas they have my best interest at heart.

"My Connection to Play"

“Play is the only way the highest intelligence of humankind can unfold."

~ Joseph Chilton Pearce~

“Play is the exultation of the possible.”

~Martin Buber~

When I was young play was the most essential part of the day for me. Play was where I was able to express myself entirely. My teachers supported play whole heartedly. They knew how important play was and how we the children learned from one another. Our teachers made sure we went outside to play daily as long as the weather permitted. And if just so happened the weather was bad, we had degsignated play areas inside that we enjoyed.

Play today is very similar to the way it was when I was a child. There are basicly the same methods as then. In my youth we would ingage in pretend play, but we didnt have the materials that are offered in classrooms now.It was great to tap into our imaginations back then, and even greater for the children exploring it now. It taught us alot about the world around us and what was going on. In my opinion its the same now and much more.

As an adult I still feel that play is neccessary. It keeps us grounded and well rounded. It gives us a temporary escape frm reality and helps in communication with our children.

Relationship Reflection

* Relationships are very important to me. I think relationships give you the confidence you need to be who you are. It's having someone to have your back and push you to go that extra mile.

* I have a lot of great relationships. The greatest one is my MOM. She is the most positive, supportive person in my life. The second is my husband Edward. He stands by me 100%, nomatter what I am doing. Then there are my children who believe in me whole heartedly and motivaet me to be who I am. And a whole list of family and friends that I share great relationships with. In order to have great relationships you have to be positive in someones life and supportive of whatever they are doing. You have to be understanding and unselfish. My experiences in relationships let me know that my relationship with students, parents, and administration will be very effective through my journey to Early Childhood. I possess all the qualities needed for a successful relationship and I am very confident. Good communication is an important parenting skill. Parents who discuss important matters, such as academic performance, puberty, and drug use provide their children with knowledge that can help them lead more productive and safer lives. In addition, conversations about serious topics convey to children that parents are concerned with and interested in their lives.

Testing for Intelligence?

In my opinion the type of things that should be assessed are social skills, communication skills, physical skills, and interlectual skills. I don't really think it's fair to assess a child solely on thier intelligence. Basically children develop at different stages and are not all at the same level . In a asay it is good to know how they are processing and after observation the observer can suggest things that will help the child improve development. Also I don't think preschool age children should be assessed for intelligence. They should be assessed while in the classroom performing different activities. Some children do better alone while others flourish in a crowd, and so each child should be assessed based on his/her individual charecteristics.

Testing for Intelligence in Germany

I researched the mainstream assessment systems in Germany. In Germany shildren performance at kindergarten is not assessed, teaching does not take place in the same sense of lessons at school. The educational staff monitors children development and informs parents of thier child's progressand of any problems he or she may experience. The assessment in Germany is designed for children ages 6-12 years of age. It is criterrior based and assesses knowledge and skills in three areas: (a) cognitive, (b) behavioral, and (c) effectiveness ( Stone, 2010). The parent information gives description of the child's social skills in home and community settings. The teachers information gives a description of social skills in the school setting. The information from the sources should be interpreted in terms of the child's stregnths and weaknesses. The children are usually assessed in conversation, social understanding, role play, and social motivation activities.

South Africa : Consequencesof Stress on Children's Development

I looked into growing up in South Africa and discovered cross cultural/cross national research could deepen my understanding of the relation between social environment and child development. I learned that children there are not strangers to stress. One of the stresses there that plays the biggest part is violence. There have been wars there that left children orphaned, and displaced from thier families. This is a very strong stressor. Even though children appear to be strong and holding it together, as you can imagine it's very hard to keep it together. There is so much violence going on in South Africa, this due to many different reasons.

Violence....Consequences of Stress on Children's Development

As a child I had a good friend who suffered the stresses of violence in the home. She lived with her mother who had a boyfriend who was very nice until he consumed alchohol. Once he had his fix he became very violent emotionally and physically. He would do a lot of loud talking and profanity. This he would do toward her mother and the kids. He would even be in such a rage that sometime he physically abuse her mother. He never hit the children though. She had three other siblings. This really effected my friend negatively. She would come to school she couldnt concentrate, she was always sleepy, and she barely ate anything. This went on for a couple of years until we got to middle school and I could really see a difference in her. She said that she was now living with her grandmother and things were great. Her grades started to improve, and she began to be very outgoing and happy again. She stayed with her grandma up until we graduated and went on to be a very successful teacher in North, MS. There were stressors in her life, but she pushed on and eventually was able to overcome them and move on with her life in a positive way.

Breastfeeding....

Breastfeeding is a very pasionate subject for me. I have two children and I am expecting now. With my previous two children I did not breastfeed. My oldest child turned out just fine, but my daughter has quite a few medical issues. She has eczema, asthma, allergies and etc. My doctor once indicated to me that if I had breastfed she wouldn't have these illnesses. Well this time I am breastfeeding. From my understanding this is the healthiest thing you can do for a child. The milk that the body produces is the most nutritional, and it's exactly what a child needs. The question at hand is how long should a child be breastfed?

I looked into breastfeeding in China and discovered it was slim to none. Approximately only 20% of mothers in China breastfeed (Xinhua, 2009). These rates are very far behind World Health Organization targets, that suggest infants six months are younger should be breastfed. A study of 2,160 Chineese infants, between 1998 and 2004, showed that breastfeeding could help develop of the neural system and dramatically lower the rate of eczema(Xinhua, 2009). In the United States 75% of women breastfeed. This number superceeds the number in China. Breastfeeding is very popular in the U.S. and very promoted.

When I open my childcare facility I plan to promote breastfeeding as well. I want children to be as healthy as possible, and I dont want anything to get in the way of thier development.

Childbirth - In your life and around the world.

The birth of my daughter was extraordinary. It was the most beautiful and emotional event I had ever experienced. I chose tis birth because everything about it was natural down to delivery. I had no medication what so ever, it was not even painful because it was over so fast. I think more women should have natural chilbirth because I had never felt better. I felt energetic and healthy. I was so aware of everything going on with my baby. I think it played a huge part in her development and how fast she has advanced through life also.

I chose China to find out how births happen there. Childbirth is influenced deeply by one's culture. In China childbirth is seen as women's business and most of the health care providers are women. In China women give birth with no medicines so that they can experience the journey to motherhood. They are not aloud to cryout in pain and discomfort either. In my opinion, childbirth for them is very stressful, because of all the rules they have to follow during pregnacy, childbirth, and after delivery.

Thanks....

I want to thank all my colleagues for your help and support throughout this class. Everyone was very thoughtful and positive and their comments and I appreciate it!!! The bond and support I have experienced here at Walden has been better than any educational experience I have ever had. It makes me more serious and confident about my classes. I find it intriguing to have so many people who share the the same passion as I do. I appreciate you all. Thanks for making this a great experience!

Examining Codes of Ethics

NAEYC
Code of Ethical Conduct and Statement of Commitment

I-1.3--To recognize and respect the unique qualities, abilities, and potential of each child.

Every child learns differently. Some children are faster learners and others are slower. Some children learn through listening and some through hands on experiences. However a child learns, the teacher should respect it and do whatever it takes to get the knowlegde to the child. A lot of teachers aren't outside the box, and this causes children to be behind in class and discourages them from learning to the best of thier ability. When I own my own facility my teachers will be outside the box and know how to make education fun and exciting.

I-1.8--To support the right of each child to play and learn in an inclusive environment that meets the needs of children with and without disabilities.

There is nothing more important than meeting the needs of all the students, whether they have disabilities or not. There are not a lot of educational institutions for children with disabilities. I want my students at my early childhood education to all have an equal opportunity to learn. Students with disabilities be some of the most intelligent students and are just waiting for a chance to show it off. I want a facility that does not descriminate, and every student will be encouraged to do thier best and keep pushing for success. I want teachers who will advocate and inform parents and students on whatever it takes for thier child to succeed.

Code of Ethics
Responsive Family Centered Practices

3. We shall respect, value, promote, and encourage the active participation of all families by engaging families in meaningful ways in the assessment and intervention process.

It is so important to get the parents involved in the childrens education. I am a firm believer that children get the most knowledge at home with parents and family. And education really does start at home, and if we can get parents to work with the teachers to make sure that children are on the right path to success, then we can eliminate children being retained. Sometimes all childrenneed is motivation, just the fact that someone has thier back and believes in them makes the world of difference.

Famous Quotes

"We know that teachers are the key to good child care - and as long as teachers are undervalued, American children, too, will keep getting less than they deserve"

~ Marcy Whitebook

“These truths about the early care and education workforce are not breaking news. We have known for two decades, since the release of the National Child Care Staffing Study in 1989, that limited education, lack of specialized early childhood training and poor compensation are inextricably linked to the poor to mediocre quality common to the majority of early care and education services across the nation. We have known, almost for that long, that the education level and pay of the workforce play a critical role in whether services can improve.”

~ Marcy Whitebook

Personal Childhood Web

The First person in my personal childhood web that I want to talk about is my mom Mrs. Rose Long. She is such a wonderful woman. She raised me all by herself, and I think she has done a wondrful  job. My mother has very little education, but she always pushed me to do my very best and to go as far as I could education. She is my biggest supporter and I appreciate that.

The second person I would like to recognize is my husband Mr. Edward. He has been such a great help in my educational process. He has gone above and beyond for me. He has taken on so much so that I can go to school and better myself. Even though it's for the family I greatly appreciate him. He makes sure I go to class and complete all assignments on time.

The third person is my best friend Ms. Terrika Cannon. She has always been an education advocate in my life. Her mother has been a principal for 40 years and the wisdom she instilled in her, she shared with me. She is the reason I decided to come to Walden University for my Masters Degree. She has always stood by me and been very positive in my educational process.

The fourth person is my cousin that was raised as my brother Mr. Derek Spann. He has always been very good to me. He is one of the few people I know who tells you the truth wheteher you wanna hear it or not. He does not believe in I CAN"T! He has always given me that extra push to be all that I can be. He does not have a lot of education, but says I have motivated him to go back to school and do what he needs to do to better himself.

The fifth person is Ms. Erma Stephens. She is my co-worker and dear friend. She went back to school to get her Masters and really had a lot of influence on me continuing mine also. She always says to me have you done your assignments for the week. She really keeps me on my toes. She is always there to help when I'm confused. I really appreciate her being in my life throughout this educational journey.

How does Early Childhood Education help?

Early Childhood education helps children gain confidence in their ability to learn. I helps children to focus and use their brains in ways they have never done before. Children lean the most i the earlier years of their lives and this opens a door for success. I think all children should experience some type of early childhood education.
